Stonehenge

I spent today visiting Stonehenge and Woodhenge. The Druids have always fascinated me and to see Stonehenge was marvellous.

For those of you who are interested in the Druids and the wonders of how they actually made the circles of stone it is a great feeling to stand there and try to imagine.

Avebury also is wondrous so if you ever have the opportunity to visit any of these places you should do so.

One of the characters from my stories, Liam, would have loved to have been there.

Welcome

Welcome to my first of many narratives for the days ahead. I hope you will enjoy the story of Seamus O'Farrell as it unfolds for you at the same time as it unfolds for me. You will be able to read this over the next several months.

Dougal and Derry O’Shea are two music loving twin leprechauns who long for adventure and adventure they find when they travel through a magical portal into the new world of Connaught. Here they must rescue the fairy princess Amber Tralee who has been kidnapped by the evil and ruthless pixie King Rupert who is intent on marrying Princess Amber in order to take over and rule the fairy kingdom. Joined by a band of brave fairies, brownies and Phil the magical flying fairy dragon, Dougal and Derry set out to rescue the princess, encountering many obstacles and meeting many whimsical and magical characters along the way. This high paced and enthralling adventure will not only capture the hearts and minds of children but is also a thoroughly enjoyable read for adults as well.

Izzy sprung from her straw bed at the sound of the keys hitting the cell walls and was immediately blinded by the light from the lantern illuminating the cell. It was not that the light was overly bright but to the brownie who had been locked in the cell for over a week, it was like looking directly into the sun. When her eyes finally adjusted to the light Izzy looked around the cell to see what had made the noise. It did not take her long to find the object lying against the cell wall and she walked over and picked it up. ‘What is it Izzy?’ asked Cameron who had also been woken by the keys but decided to let the more excitable Izzy see what was happening. Izzy who had just peeled back the paper to reveal its contents said simply, ‘The keys.’ ‘Very funny, ‘said Cameron adding, ‘why is it so bright in here?’ ‘Cameron, I’m not kidding, ‘said Izzy rattling the keys to get her friend’s attention, ‘what’s more, there’s a note with them.’ ‘What’s it say?’ asked Cameron now more excited and sitting up. ‘That there is a fairy in the dungeons and if we don’t take the fairy with us we will not get out of here alive and there’s more, it says the spy is someone,’ Izzy paused, ‘called Murray.’ ‘Your cousin?’ asked Cameron aghast. ‘He’s the only Murray I know,’ stated Izzy, ‘but we’ll deal with that situation when we get back to the camp. The first thing we have to do is get out of here.’ ‘What if it’s a trap?’ asked Cameron. ‘We’ve got nothing to lose, we’re dead if we stay here so we might as well die trying to get away,’ Izzy replied. ‘You have a point but what about this fairy does the note say who it is?’ asked Cameron. ‘Nope, but we’re about to find out. We’ve wasted far too much time discussing this, it’s time to get out of here,’ said Izzy as she walked over to the door, tried each key until she found the right one and unlocked the door. Izzy was about to start looking for the fairy when she saw the unconscious guard, ‘we have to lock him in the cell,’ she whispered to Cameron. Cameron nodded in reply and followed her friend over to the fallen guard. They removed the pixie’s weapons, grabbed an arm each and dragged him into their now vacant cell. Once inside Izzy gagged him with material from his own tunic, then tied his hands with some rope she had found outside the cell. They left the cell locking the door behind them and began a cell by cell search for the fairy. It was Cameron who a short time later found who they were looking for. ‘Izzy, over here,’ she called as loud as she dared. Izzy who was now carrying the lantern hurried over to her and shone the light into the cell.
